Common questions
A few things that come up often.
Where does the transit data come from?
Directly from the public SEPTA and PATCO APIs, plus Indego's bike-share feed. Route Radar displays that data as the agencies publish it, so accuracy depends on their feeds.
Why is an arrival or schedule time wrong?
Route Radar shows the times exactly as SEPTA publishes them, blending the official schedule with live vehicle positions. It doesn't invent or adjust times on its own — so when an arrival looks off, it's coming from the agency's data, not the app.
Why does a bus look late, early, or out of place?
Lateness and vehicle positions come straight from SEPTA's real-time feed. When a vehicle's GPS drifts or its trip is reported inconsistently, that can show up as a bus that looks late, early, or briefly in the wrong spot — Route Radar is faithfully drawing whatever the feed reports, and it usually corrects on the next update.
Why did a vehicle disappear from the map?
A vehicle drops off the map when it stops reporting to SEPTA's feed — end of trip, a GPS gap, or a stale position the app filters out to avoid showing "ghost" buses. If it's still in service, it typically reappears once the agency's data refreshes.
Do my pinned stops sync between devices?
Yes — pinned stops and filter preferences sync through your iCloud account using Apple's iCloud key-value storage, so they stay in step across your devices. Make sure iCloud is enabled in iOS Settings.
Does Route Radar use my location?
Only with your permission — to center the map on you and find nearby stops. It's not used for advertising and never sold, and you can use the app fully without granting location access. See the privacy policy for details.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Just use the contact form above. Bug reports are most helpful with your iPhone model, iOS version, and the route or stop involved. Feature ideas are always welcome.
